NHS Data Management
Training Course Objectives
From experience with working with some NHS trusts it has been identified that there is a need for some support in the management of data. These Data Management Requirements range from mapping excel data to ESR, Mass Data loads and Data Cleansing.

Training Course Duration

Preparation before onsite visit
Pre Scoping Call between iTrain Education Consutant and Trust Representative
- This call will identfy what areas the trust are wanting to focus on and what they feel there present problems are. This initial call will also identify what the iTrain and Trust responsibilities and next steps are before the visit.
Gathering of all external data sources
- The trust will need to gather all external data sources such as any excel reports and be aware of any other databases that are being used in paralell with ESR.
Post, Pre Scoping Call from Account Manager
- This call will be to book a date for the sit visit, clarify responsibilites and site details.
Onsite Task List
Morning Meeting
- The morning meeting will involve discussing the data issues presently faced, such as data itegrity, duplicate entry or multiple data sources.
Legacy to ESR Mapping
- With all the data sources identied time will then be spent mapping the data points to fields in ESR.
Solution Arcitecture
- In instances were legacy systems are bing used for the management of data that runs paralell with ESR a solution design with be drawn up for the interfacing, migrating or management of that data in a more seamless manor.
Draft Proposal of Support
- A full proposal will be written by the Consultant, incorporating the results of the mapping any solution designs, consulting requirements and a suggested plan of action to cater for the requirements.
Post departure meeting to discuss outcome
- A half hour meeting will be arranged for the end of the consulting day to disucss the outcomes of the Data Analysis, a topline overview of the proposal and any other ESR requirements that may require discussion.
Post Visit
Commercial Proposal
- The proposal that has been written by the Consultant will the be reviewed by the commercial team and a relevant cost applied to the suggested plan of action.
Follow up call from Account Manager
- The account manager will then make contact after the release of the proposal to discuss if there is any further support required.
